Learn How to Obtain Extraordinary Results - "Plan, Prepare, Pursue"
Dear Friend:
Did you begin the year with hopes of moving up the corporate ladder, starting a business, or getting a new job? October has arrived, how are you progressing? Have you given up on those things that you were passionate about accomplishing earlier in the year? Well, take heart, help is on the way. If you want to experience unprecedented success in realizing your dreams, you must follow the process. Have you ever wondered why some people seem to win at everything they do and others seem to struggle and suffer defeat over and over again? The answer is really quite simple -- the winners Plan, Prepare, and Pursue. And, you can too. It's your time to win and I'm here to coach you towards success!
What's the Plan?
If you want to arrive at a particular destination, you need to know how you're going to get there, correct? Would you also agree that it's not wise to begin a journey heading to a place that you've never visited without directions? Likewise, if you have aspirations of moving up the corporate ladder, of getting a better job, or starting your own business, what is your plan to accomplish these things?
It's time to get serious about your life, take responsibility, and begin to live life on purpose for a purpose. From time to time, we should take a self-assessment and deal with reality. Is it possible that many of us are not where we want to be because of procrastination, hence laziness? Alright, maybe this does not apply to you, but someone you know is probably contributing to their own demise by being lazy. If you want to experience something that you've never experienced, it should come as no surprise that you must also be willing to do some things that you've never done. Do more than just enough to get by, way more, go the extra mile. Here's a recipe for conquering procrastination - just do it! Stop with the excuses, and no it cannot wait until tomorrow, you've used that excuse too many times before!
Now is the time to finish your degree, to hone your skills, to research your desired industry and competitors, to begin networking by joining groups that are in your field. If you want to move up from your present position, ask your boss if you can be of assistance by taking on additional responsibilities and support corporate goals.
I'm passionate about wanting to see you reach your goals. As such, I decided to reach out on a monthly basis through my newsletter to those of you that are interested in winning. With that said, write your goals down, establish a plan, review your goals daily, stay focused, and get an accountability partner. If you really want to accomplish your goals, find someone that you trust and tell them what you want to work on and ask them to assist by holding you accountable. How bad do you want it? It's time to get moving.
It's Time to Prepare...
Assuming you have a plan, now take an assessment of your skills. Do you have the required skills for the job you want or the new business that you want to begin? Will you need additional training? Do you know someone that is already doing it? If you want to finish a degree, begin to make inquiries and find out what steps you need to take to resume your studies. Be well read, what's the title of the last book you finished reading? Education and training is vital. In today's economy, it's best to be in a position to be able to do a number of things well. Also, if you're looking for a job, practice your interviewing skills - that's very important! Most people do not interview well, but with practice they can improve. There's no excuse in the Information Age for not being prepared -- ZERO.
Get involved in professional organizations in the industry that you hope to join and volunteer. If you're out of work, doing volunteer work will go a long way with hiring managers and recruiters. You'll also meet some new people and possibly pick up some new skills. Networking is not a bad word and it may be the key to your next move. When you go to networking events, show genuine interest in finding out what others do for a living. We all love to talk about things that we have going on. Ask questions, eventually the person you're speaking with will reciprocate and ask you questions as well. The point is, don't begin the conversation tossing around your business card. If you network properly, you'll be asked for a business card and a legitimate connection will be established.
Take Action, Pursue!
If you do the work described in the planning and preparation phases, you will be well on your way to accomplishing great things and experiencing extraordinary results. This phase is easy; you get to apply all the new skills you've learned, interact with new people, handle additional responsibilities, and seize opportunities that you're prepared to handle. The only thing that can stop you now is fear, do not be afraid. You're ready, you've practiced, you did the research, you made the right contacts, you look fantastic, and your resume has been updated. Go get your reward!
Thanks for reading my newsletter, as it was written with you in mind. I look forward to hearing about your success and please feel free to contact me with updates on your progress.
All the best
